How to Apply for a Visa

For Tourist or Visit-to-family Visa, you need:
*Completed and signed visa application form
* One recent passport photograph
* Passport (with spare visa pages, valid for over 6 months)
* Travel itinerary prepared by travel agency, or invitation letter from relative / friend in China including the inviters' personal details and contact information.

For Business Visa, you need:
* If you once had Chinese nationality and apply for visa to China for the first time, please show your Chinese passport.
* Completed and signed visa application form
* One recent passport photograph
* Passport (with spare visa pages, valid for over 6 months)
* Invitation letter from Chinese authorities that have the power to issue visa notification, such as Foreign Affairs Office, or an enpowered company in China.

For Work Visa, you need:
* Completed and signed visa application form
* One recent passport photograph
* Passport (with spare visa pages, valid for over 6 months)
* Foreigner Employment License issued by Ministry of Labour & Social Security, PRC, or Certificate of Foreign Expert's Identity issued by State Bureau of Foreign Experts, PRC (THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT IS RUQUIRED)
* Invitation letter from Chinese authorities concerned such as Foreign Affairs Office (THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT IS RUQUIRED)
* Physical examination report, if the applicant intends to stay in China for over 6 months.

For Student Visa, you need:
* Completed and signed visa application form
* One recent passport photograph
* Passport (with spare visa pages, valid for over 6 months)
* Form JW201/JW202 issued by Ministry of Education, PRC (THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT IS RUQUIRED)
* Admission letter from an educational institution (THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT IS RUQUIRED)
* Physical examination report, if the applicant intends to stay in China for over 6 months.

Normal process takes 4 working days, if application materials are sufficient.
Suggested application time is 3 to 6 weeks before intended date of entry into China.
Urgent process within 1 to 3 working days is available if the visa officer agrees.

I am a resident of Vanuatu, with a British passport. I wish to travel to China in June and would like to apply for a tourist visa.
