I am an American citizen studying abroad for 4 months in Barcelona. What documentation do I need to apply for a visa to visit my sister in Shanghai for 2 weeks? I have a student visa for spain but how do I prove my residence here? Can I apply for my visa in Barcelona?

I am an American and I tried to apply for a visa for China in Barcelona. They said that they can only process visas in this office for Spanish people or for people with a residence card for Spain and you had to have a letter from some office of the government that proves your residence is here. I called the embassy in Madrid and they said you can apply there but I will find out next week when I go...

To whom it may concern,
I am an Australian travelling from China to Spain. I would like to know what the process is for me to get a tourist visa as I will be passing back through China on my way to Australia. Is it possible for me to get a 1 month tourist visa in Barcelona? And how long will the application take?
Please reply in English.
Kind regards,
Tim
