I'm an US citizen and am planning to visit China after my trips to HCMC and Seoul in December. I will be in HCMC from December 14th thru 17th and in Seoul from 17th thru 19th. Because staying in Seoul will be in a weekend, I must obtain China visa in HCMC.
I have been getting information that US citizens can't apply for China visa in HCMC unless the person has permanent residency in HCMC. Is this true? Would you please provide information as how to obtain a visa in HCMC(i.e. required doc's)?

I am a Chinese citizen and have my passport and all money stolen in Nha Trang. I went to the police station and have the report back with authorized signature and chop. What shall I do then when I arrive in HCMC? Do I need a transit visa or a new passport? How long does it take to do so because I have only 1 day in HCMC before my departure(I have a photocopy of the passport & ID card and pictures)? Looking forward to your answer.

Hi,

We are going to visit China after a 4 month long trip in Asien, and therefore were going to need to apply for a Chinese visa in Hanoi. I read Kelly's warning saying the visa service is no longer available for foreigners, but has the service re-opened for foreigner or is it opening any time soon again? Were two swedes and were going to Hanoi and off to China in February/March.
Thanks!

WARNING! At this time, the Chinese consulate is only giving visas to people who live in Vietnam. If you are a tourist, then you should get a visa upon arrival in Hong Kong. If you live here, you need to go to the consulate. Bring: passport pictures, glue stick, photocopies of your passport and visa, work permit, and letter of introduction from your current employer. The Chinese embassy website in your home country should have the form.
