1 Information about Consular Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Consular Section is open from 9:30am to 11:30am on each Monday, Wednesday and Friday except the Chinese holidays.

2 Visa for Tibet Autonomous Region of China
a. Tourist Visa
Individual tourist visa for Tibet Autonomous Region of China is yet available. If you are traveling to Tibet, you are required to get a group visa through a qualified local travel agency. In case there is an existing visa in your passport for mainland of China, this visa will be cancelled and a group visa will be issued instead without any charge. If you intend to make further trip to other places of China through Tibet, you have to change the group visa for a travel permit from the Office of Public Security Bureau in Lhasa . The airplane is the only way for your further trip to other parts of China.
b. Business Visa
If you are going on a business visit to Tibet, you should get a confirmation letter from the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Tibet Autonomous Region of China. If you need assistance from the Chinese Embassy, you may contact the Commercial Section (phone number is 4425949, 4425884 or 4434972).
c. Visitors, such as Diplomats, officials and journalists should apply for visas through official channel. The phone number is 00977-1-4416485.
3 Information about Hong Kong Visa
A. The Embassy of China can issue Hong Kong visas only for those who are traveling to Hong Kong with business and official purpose.
For business visa, you are required to submit the documents as follows:
1. A completed application form.
2.A passport with minimum of six months validity and all the other old passports with Hong Kong visas issued previously.
3. One passport size photograph.
4.A photocopy of the information page of your valid passport.
5. A letter from your business partner or sponsor in Hong Kong stating your sponsor's name, address, business activity and phone number.
6. A recommendation letter from any of the following institutions:
· Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry
· Nepal Chamber of Commerce
· Nepal Foreign Trade Association
· Nepal Trans Himalayan Border Trade Association
· Nepal Trans-Himalayan Trade Association
B. If you transit Hong Kong to Mainland of China or a Third country, you are also required to have transit visa. You are required to give appropriate reasons of transit. If you are going to mainland of China via Hong Kong, you should submit an invitation letter from a company in the mainland. In case you transit Hong Kong to a third country, you should present the visa for that country and the air-ticket with photocopies and an application form.
C. Visa will not be issued from the Chinese Embassy for those who visit Hong Kong for the purpose of applying for ID Card, participating conference, sports and art performance, etc. This kind of visa you have to apply directly from the Immigration Office of Hong Kong through your sponsor or relatives or organizer. Hong Kong Immigration Office will sand a sticker visa to the applicant through your sponsor or by post.

D. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China has temporarily stopped to issue visas for those who are traveling to Hong Kong with the purpose of employment, domestic helper, study and training.
4 Information about the visa for Mainland of China
a. If you travel to China for tourist purpose, you should submit an application form with affixed one photograph.
If going on a business visit you should submit an invitation letter from a Chinese company and evidence of any business dealings with Chinese companies.
b. If you travel to China for conference or seminar, you should provide an invitation letter issued by an authorized organization.
For a transit visa, you should provide a visa from the Third country and with a photocopy.
c. For Employment visa you should provide extra documents including Working Permit Certificate issued by the Ministry of Labor of the Government of China and Visa Notice issued by an authorized Government Office from China.
d. Students who are traveling to Mainland of China for study must provide the papers, such as admission notice from their University, JW201 or JW202 application form and physical examination report provided by a Government recognized physician of Nepal. Physical examination form is available at the Embassy Consular Section.
5. Information about visa fee
a. Hong Kong
The regular Visa fee for Hong Kong is 3600 Rupees both for single and double entries. Visa collecting takes 5 working days. The additional charge for one day service is 2100 Rupees, for third day is 1500 Rupees.
Non-Nepali citizens pay equivalent US Dollars in cash.
b. The visa fee for the mainland of China is as follows.
For Nepalese Citizens:
Single entry visa is 2200 Rupees.
Double entries visa is 3300 Rupees.
Multiple entries visa with 6 month's duration is 4400 Rupees.
Multiple entries visa with 1-year duration is 6400 Rupees.
The additional charge for one day service is 2100 Rupees, for third day is 1500 Rupees.
Non-Nepali travelers should pay US dollar in cash.
