Information for Visa to China
I. Basic Requirements:
Applicants should fill in one visa application form appropriately with one recent passport size photograph. Applicant's passport valid for at least six months with a blank visa page is required. The Chinese Embassy has the right to decline those visa applications when applicants provide fake information or their forms are found not duly filled out.
II. Type of Visas and Related Requirements:
1.Diplomatic/Official Visa
Diplomatic or Official Passport holders going to China on temporary visit require the following documents:
A: Visa Note from Ministry of External Affairs of India or concerned Embassy or International Organization in India.
B: Invitation from Chinese authority if Chinese Government is involved in the function.
It may hereby be notified that it usually takes 4 working days to process some of these visas as reference to authorities concerned in China is required.
2. Tourist Visa ("L" Visa) (usually single entry 30-day only):
The following documents are required:
A: Covering letter from applicant's company or office addressed to the visa office.
B: Confirmed return flight ticket
C: Foreigners other than Indians should have valid Indian visa or valid Residential Permit in India.
D: Visiting relatives should have invitation from their relatives or friends in China.
3. Business Visa ("F" Visa):
The following documents are required:
A: Invitation from China
(i)Applicants holding invitation from company in China may apply for single or double entry visa.
(ii)Applicants holdingoriginal visa notification letterfrom Provincial Authorities.

A: Applicants should get visa of destination country first.
B: Covering letter from applicant's company or office addressed to visa office.
6. Employment Visa ("Z" Visa)
The following documents are required:
A: Alien Employment License issued by the Ministry of Labour & Social Security, Govt. of China, or Foreign Specialist's License issued by Foreign Specialist Bureau, Govt. of China.
B: Visa notification letter issued by the local authority, the Foreign Affairs Office.
C: Covering letter from applicant addressed to the visa office.
D: Health Certificate issued by doctors from an Indian state hospital.
7. Student Visa ("X" Visa)
The following documents are required:
A: Admission Notice issued by the University in P. R. China.
B: Student visa application form issued by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of China.
C: Covering letter from the applicant's recently graduated school, university or applicant himself/herself.
D: Health Certificate issued by doctors from an Indian state hospital.

Please enquire the visa officer straightly about applications of any visas other than the above mentioned categories.

2.Urgent Service:
The normal visa procedure takes four working days. For special cases, Urgent Service (collect in 2 or 3 working days)is provided with extra fee charged. The Most Urgent service (collect in the same day)provided before will withdraw as of October 20, 2003.
3. The applicant may ask travel agencies to apply on his/her behalf. Application by courier not accepted.
