Types of Chinese VisaChinese visa is a permit issued to a foreigner by the Chinese visa authorities for entry into, exit from or transit through the territory. The Chinese visa authorities may issue a Diplomatic, Courtesy, Service or Ordinary Visa to a foreigner according to the identity and purpose of visit of the applicant and their passport type.
Ordinary Visa consists of eight sub-categories, which are respectively marked with Chinese phonetic letters L, F, Z, X, C, J-1 and J-2.
L-Visa: Issued to an alien who goes to China for sightseeing, family visiting or other private purposes.
F-Visa: Issued to an applicant who is invited to China for a business visit, research, lecture, scientific-technological and cultural exchange or short-term advanced studies or intern practice for a period of no more than six months.
Z-Visa: Issued to an applicant who goes to China for employment.
X-Visa: Issued to an applicant who goes to China for the purpose of study, advanced studies or intern practice for a period of more than six months.
G-Visa: Issued to those who transit through China.
J-1 Visa: Issued to foreign correspondents in China.
J-2 Visa: Issued to foreign journalists on temporary assignment in China.
Validity of visa: Usually, the validity of a Single Entry or Double Entry (L) visa is 90 days from the date of issue, which means the holder of the visa shall enter into China no later than 90 days from the date of issue. Once for Single Entry/ twice for Double Entry. Otherwise the visa expires. The duration of stay of a (L) visa is 30 days, which means the holder of the visa may stay in China for up to 30 days from the date of entry.
The overseas Chinese visa authorities are Chinese embassies, consulates, and other offices authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. If a foreigner intends to enter into, exit from or transit through Chinese territory, he/she shall apply to the above-mentioned Chinese visa authorities for a Chinese visa.
According to the relevant international law, a sovereign state has the exclusive rights to decide whether or not to allow a foreigner to enter its territory, and accordingly to issue visa, reject visa application and cancel an issued visa according to its national law without providing specific reasons.
Specific Requirements for Chinese VisaA) Business "F" Visa
1. Qualified original invitation letter from the relevant Chinese Authorized Unit;
2. Qualified original invitation & guarantee letter with signature and stamp from the applicant's sponsor and business partner in China. The letter should state clearly applicant's name, position and passport number, applicant's company name, address and telephone number, purpose of visit, duration of stay and specific itinerary in China;
3. Qualified original introduction letter with the full name, title, date & signature of the issuing person from applicant's company. The letter should state clearly applicant's name, present occupation and position in the company, purpose of the visit, intended duration of stay, city intended to visit, name and address of applicant's business partner in China, items and quantity of goods planned to order and purchase;
4. Original Certificate of Incorporation;
5. Any proof of business connection with the inviting company in China (e.g. fax of business negotiation, contract, agreement, quotations of goods, invoices, bill of lading, etc.)
6. Applicant's passport copy--------Bio-data pages
B) Transit "G"Visa
1. Original and valid visa of the destination country (region);
2. Valid round-trip airline ticket;
3. Original introduction letter from applicant's company to state clearly the purpose of trip to the visiting country;
C) Students "X"Visa
1. Qualified original JW202 Form issued by the relevant Chinese Government or authorized departments and original Admission Notice from the receiving school with the seal and signature;
2. Original guarantee letter from applicant's sponsor in Nigeria and original recommendation letter from two experts and certificate of graduation (Diploma);
3. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, if the applicant intends to stay in China for more than 12 months. The record should be done by a local hospital, notarized by a notary public, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, and authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. Reminder: X-visas are generally valid for 3 months. Applicants should apply for residence permit from a local Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China.
D) Visa for employment/work "Z "Visa
1. Visa issuance notice letter/form from the Chinese governmental organization authorized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
2. The original and one photocopy of Employment License for Aliens issued by the Chinese Ministry of Labor and Social Security, or Foreign Expert's Identity Certificate issued by the Chinese State Bureau of Foreign Experts (the original will be checked and returned to the applicant).
3. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, if the applicant intends to stay in China for more than 12 months. The record should be done by a local hospital, notarized by a notary public, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. 4. For staff of the representative office in China, a original Certificate of Registration of the office, a Certificate of Approval for Foreign Company, Registration of Taxation, and proof of office renting;
5. Original introduction letter from applicant's company in Nigeria;
6. Original application letter from the consultancy in China;
7. Proof of applicant's financial standing-----Correct company bank statement (latest 3-6 months) with the bank chop & signature;
8. Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, which should be checked up by this office appointed hospital;
Reminder: Z-Visa is generally valid for 3 months. Applicant should apply for a residence permit from a local Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China.
Notes :
The validity, duration of stay, and number of entries of the Chinese visa are decided at the discretion of consular officers according to related Chinese laws and regulations. The consular officers have the authority to refuse any applications inconsistent with Chinese laws and regulations, and are entitled to change and /or revoke any issued visas, without providing any explanation.

No fax, photocopy or scanned invitation letter will be accepted. The invitation letter should be valid for at least 3 months from the date of issurance.
Only the original invitation letter from China is accepted. Alteration or forgery of invitation letters is absolutely forbidden. Those who are proven guilty of the accusations will be deprived of the qualification for China Visa application. Passport with fake Chinese Visa or entry and exit stamp on it will be handed over to the Police and the passport holder will be denied entry into China permanently.
Please be advised to make sure that the application form is completely filled out, otherwise your application may be delayed or even denied.
Applications maybe declined if the applicant fails to provide the true, correct and complete information. All consequence of economic losses or passport missing caused by applying through agents or travel agency are at the applicant's risk.
