(2012-01-18) Statement

Recently, through some advertisements in certain Nigerian newspapers, some local agents have claimed that they could provide paid services on Chinese visa application. The Embassy and Consulate of China in Nigeria declares on their website as follows:

1. According to relevant Chinese regulations, all Nigerian visa applicants must come to the Embassy or Consulate in person for interview and other procedures of Chinese visa application.
2. The Chinese Embassy or Consulate has never authorized any unit, organization or person as agent for Chinese visa application.
3. The Chinese Embassy or Consulate do not charge extra fees for the visa application, except for the stipulated ones (Please refer to the Visa Fee webpage) based on relevant Chinese regulations.

(2010-06-06) Notice about Macao Visa

The Macao Special Administrative Region will implement the following measures starting from 1 July 2010: nationals of Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are required to obtain an entry visa before arriving at the Macao Special Administrative Region. Visa-upon-arrival is no longer applicable to these nationals.

Documents Required

Business Visa (F Visa)
1. One completed visa application form with a recently taken passport photo stuck on;
2. Visa Notification Form issued by an authorized unit in China (Visa notification refers to the form of visa notification issued by departments of the Chinese government, or companies and social organizations authorized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry);
3. Qualified original invitation & guarantee letter with signature and stamp from the applicant's sponsor and business partner in China. The letter should state clearly applicant's name, position and passport number, applicant's company name, address and telephone number, purpose of visit, duration of stay and specific itinerary in China;
4. Qualified original introduction letter with the full name, title, date & signature of the issuing person from applicant's company. The letter should state clearly applicant's name, present occupation and position in the company, purpose of the visit, intended duration of stay, city intended to visit, name and address of applicant's business partner in China, items and quantity of goods planned to order and purchase;
5. The original and one photocopy of the applicant's ID card. (The original will be returned to the applicant after the interview) ;
6. The original and one photocopy of the certificate of incorporation of the applicant's company. (The original will be returned to the applicant after the interview);
7. Hotel reservation in China and round-trip ticket between Nigeria and China;
8. Recent bank statement of account;
9. One photocopy of the applicant's passport Bio-data page and, visa pages with Chinese visa if any;
10. Any proof of business connection with the inviting company in China (e.g. fax of business negotiation, contract, agreement, quotations of goods, invoices, bill of lading.);
11. A list of the documents submitted.

Transit Visa (G Visa)
1. Original and valid visa of the destination country (region);
2. Valid round-trip airline ticket;
3. Original introduction letter from applicant's company to state clearly the purpose of trip to the visiting country;

Student Visa (X Visa)
1. Qualified original JW202 Form issued by the relevant Chinese Government or authorized departments and original Admission Notice from the receiving school with the seal and signature;
2. Original guarantee letter from applicant's sponsor in Nigeria and original recommendation letter from two experts and certificate of graduation (Diploma);
3. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, if the applicant intends to stay in China for more than 12 months. The record should be done by a local hospital, notarized by a notary public, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, and authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. Reminder: X-visas are generally valid for 3 months. Applicants should apply for residence permit from a local Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China.

Employment/ work Visa (Z Visa)
1. Visa issuance notice letter/form from the Chinese governmental organization authorized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
2. The original and one photocopy of Employment License for Aliens issued by the Chinese Ministry of Labor and Social Security, or Foreign Expert's Identity Certificate issued by the Chinese State Bureau of Foreign Experts (the original will be checked and returned to the applicant).
3. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, if the applicant intends to stay in China for more than 12 months. The record should be done by a local hospital, notarized by a notary public, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. 4. For staff of the representative office in China, a original Certificate of Registration of the office, a Certificate of Approval for Foreign Company, Registration of Taxation, and proof of office renting;
5. Original introduction letter from applicant's company in Nigeria;
6. Original application letter from the consultancy in China;
7. Proof of applicant's financial standing-----Correct company bank statement (latest 3-6 months) with the bank chop & signature;
8. Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, which should be checked up by this office appointed hospital;
Reminder: Z-Visa is generally valid for 3 months. Applicant should apply for a residence permit from a local Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China.

Hong Kong and Macao Visa

Hong Kong Visa
1. Visit the Hong Kong Immigration Department web site: http://www.immd.gov.hk for Required documents;
2. Visa fee is 50 US dollars, Process Time varies;
3. All documents will be sent to HK Immigration Department for approval. The Chinese Embassy or Consulate should issue the visa according to the reply from the HK Immigration.

Process of Visa Application

Stage One: Appointment
To start the whole process, the applicant (or someone on behalf) shall come to the Embassy for appointment of interview first on Tuesday or Thursday (3pm-5pm, except public holidays), with complete visa application documents as required.

Stage Two: Interview
At the appointed date, the applicant himself (except holders of diplomatic and official passports) should come to the Embassy for interview. The applicant who fails the interview will get rejected. And one who passes the interview will get a pick-up form which specifies a date of collection. However, to pass the interview does not necessarily mean that the applicant could obtain a visa.

In all cases, incidents involving the presentation of forged or fake document shall be reported to the Nigerian government through diplomatic channel, in addition to not being qualified for Chinese visa again.

Stage three: Collection
At the date of collection, the applicant (or someone on behalf) shall come to the Embassy with the pick-up form, to check the final result. The applicant who get granted visa should pay his visa fee with an ATM card or debit card in the visa hall, before picking up his passport. The applicant who is not granted visa could directly get back his passport, with no need to pay.
